MPs, civil servants and many others in London’s Westminster are reportedly ‘awash with rumours’ UK PM Rishi Sunak will call July election in the late afternoon.
If so, this gives financial advisers and planners not only in the UK but across the world a real timetable for getting to grips with what a probable change of government might entail in terms of new policies.
Chris Mason, political editor, BBC News wrote earlier today: “For over 12 hours now I have been seeking a straight answer to whether Rishi Sunak is about to call an election and no straight answer has come. Calls that are normally returned haven’t been.”
While Andrew Neil, chairman of The Spectator tweeted: “Westminster awash with rumours Mr Sunak about to call early July election late this afternoon. Rumours given some credence by failure of usual sources to knock them down. I have no idea. Though suspect if he does call an election it will not end well.”
