Global life insurer opens Singapore branch

By Cristian Angeloni, 11 Aug 20

It received licence approval from the regulator in May 2020

Canada-headquartered Sun Life Financial has unveiled a Singapore branch to offer life insurance solutions to high net worth (HNW) individuals.

The firm was already present in several Asian countries, including China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

“This represents a significant milestone in Sun Life’s history,” said Léo Grépin, Sun Life Asia president. “For 128 years, we have been helping clients in Asia to grow, secure and transfer their wealth.”

Sun Life received regulatory and licence approval to open the Singapore branch in May 2020.

Belinda Au has been promoted to chief executive of Sun Life Singapore. She was previously general manager of distribution and marketing at Sun Life Hong Kong.

The firm said it currently has more than 23 million clients in Asia, to whom they provide life, health and wealth management solutions.
