Five big factors in the £1.27bn UK wills, probate and trusts market

Fragmented and largely unregulated, the UK wills, probate and trusts market was worth £1.27bn last year, but this is set to grow, according to market research company IRN Research.

In 2017, the introduction of a UK Trust Register probably had the biggest impact on the UK wills, probate and trusts market. Trustees must now report and disclose beneficial owners to HM Revenue & Customs, making trusts less attractive to those wanting anonymity.

IRN’s latest briefing expects ‘radical’ change for this slow growing market. However, supported by an ageing population, researchers expect the market to be worth £1.6bn ($2.12bn, €1.82bn) by 2022.

IRN have identified five of the most important factors facing the industry.
