Swiss private banking group EFG International was granted regulatory approval this week to open an onshore business in Santiago, Chile.

Benjamin Hughes and Gonzalo Ferrer are managing partners of the new business, which will operate in Chile with a local brokerage licence, enabling EFG to offer clients local and international wealth management services.

The new business unit reflects the firm’s commitment to growing its footprint in the Latin American market.

The new office will join the group’s existing South American presence, currently with locations in Punta del Este and Montevideo in Uruguay, Lima in Peru, Ecuador’s capital Quito and Colombian capital Bogotá.
