Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) has appointed a new chief executive for its Swiss operations.
Taking over from Michel Wohl, who is moving to become adviser to the board of directors of BIL Suisse, Thierry de Loriol is tasked with developing BIL’s private banking and wealth management activities in Switzerland.
Loriol will chair the management board of BIL Suisse, whose other members are vice chairman Alfons Widmer and chief financial officer Rolf Tresch.
A member of BIL Group’s management board and head of wealth management, Adrian Leuenberger, says he is confident that the new addition to the management team will deepen the group’s footprint both in Switzerland and internationally.
He said: “At a time when many firms are retrenching from private banking and wealth management, we are making advances.
“BIL Suisse is one of our most important offices and booking centres outside of Luxembourg, and the knowledge and capabilities we have built up gives us an excellent foundation for future expansion.”
Loriol has over 20 years’ experience in international investment and private banking, and has worked with Banque Cramer & Cie, and held senior management posts with Swiss banks: Clariden Leu, Banque de Dépôts et de Gestion and Sinara Capital Management.
He has also led finance and marketing teams in major financial centres during his career, including those in the UK, Germany and Japan.
