British Steel pension advice firm fails

12 claims have already been filed with the FSCS

|

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) declared that one of the advice firms involved in the British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) scandal failed on 22 November 2022.

Cardiff-based Bartholomew Financial Limited provided financial advice mostly on pensions, and entered liquidation on 6 June 2022, the Financial Conduct Authority Register shows. It was first authorised by the FCA in July 2013.

The company was run by executive directors Dino and Georgina Bartholomew.

The FSCS confirmed to International Adviser it has so far received 12 claims against the company, all related to pension transfer advice, some of which are about BSPS.

The company, however, is not to be confused with fellow Cardiff advice business Bartholomew Hawkins Limited, which went into liquidation in October 2020, and was also involved in the British Steel scandal.
