The Dublin-domiciled BNY Mellon Global Dynamic Bond Fund is a sub-fund of BNY Mellon Global Funds and will be managed by Newton Investment Management, one of BNY Mellon’s boutique asset managers.
According to BNY Mellon, the new fund is based on a UK-domiciled strategy it says it has proved successful, that of the Newton Global Dynamic Bond Fund, which has generated a return of 36.41% since its launch in April 2006.
Brain to head up team
Heading up the fund’s management will be Paul Brain, leader of fixed income at Newton. He oversees a team of eight bond specialists at the asset management company and has more than 26 years of investment experience, BNY Mellon said.
In addition to investing in long positions in the diversified global bond markets, the fund is designed to permit Brain and his colleagues to use derivatives to have a "negative government bond duration" during periods of rising bond yields.
BNY Mellon said the most of the capital protection and potential gains will be derived from the choice of bond market allocations.
Newton is a London-based global asset management subsidiary of the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, and part of BNY Mellon AM. More information may be found on the company’s website,
