Barings appoints Edmund Chong to head Asia ex-Japan sales

Investment management firm Baring Asset Management has appointed Edmund Chong as head of sales, client service and business development – distribution, Asia ex-Japan.

Investment management firm Baring Asset Management has appointed Edmund Chong as head of sales, client service and business development - distribution, Asia ex-Japan.

Chong, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins from HSBC Global Asset Management where he was head of the wholesale business sales team. He has also worked with BNP Paribas Investment Partners, SG Asset Management and Franklin Templeton.

Chong will report to Gerry Ng, Barings’ chief executive officer for Asia ex-Japan at Baring Asset Management, which is part of the MassMutual Financial Group.

Ng said Chong will lead the firm’s mutual fund distribution business at it prepares to launch the Barings Hong Kong domiciled fund range.

“He brings deep experience of the industry and our key distributors,” Ng said.
