The appointment follows an announcement from the firm that it will seek to more than double its assets in Greater China over the next three years.
Tjandra is expected to take up the newly-created position on 5 Dec and will assume overall responsibility for the Greater China coverage teams in Hong Kong, Barclays Wealth said. He aims to expand the firm’s high net worth client base, with an additional focus on UHNWIs.
He will report to Pakorn Boonya-kurkul, the head of North Asia. As International Adviser reported this month, Boonya-kurkul announced plans for a significant expansion in the firm’s Greater China business, including the launch of a Singapore desk dedicated to the region.
Tjandra spent 15 years in various roles at Goldman Sachs, including co-head of its Hong Kong office and head of the Taiwan desk. Most recently he focused on the firm’s Taiwanese clients.
