Barclays Wealth appoints Anne Luke to UHNW Asia post

7 Sep 11

Barclays Wealth has named Anne Luke to head up its client solutions operation in Asia.

Barclays Wealth has named Anne Luke to head up its client solutions operation in Asia.

Based in Singapore, Luke reports to Srinivas Siripurapu, head of South Asia and Southeast Asia at Barclays Wealth, as well as to Pakorn Boonya-kurkul, head of North Asia.

Luke’s appointment comes as Barclays Wealth continues to build its ultra high net worth wealth management operations in Asia. The strategy began around 18 months ago, and has seen the bank introduce customised products in credit, derivatives, foreign exchange and trust structuring that it says are designed to “unlock the value” from the often complex portfolios of such wealthy clients.

Luke’s more than 20-year career has included a stint at UBS, where she also was involved in wealth management operations involving ultra high net worth clients, as well private banking and investment banking posts with other banks. She has also been a partner in various law firms, covering banking and finance deals as well as corporate advisory work.

At Barclays Wealth, Luke will work closely with various units across the Barclays Group to drive the origination, structuring and delivery of private investment banking services to UHNW individuals, Barclays Wealth said.

Typically, such transactions may include large and complex deals which provide access to investments, manage financial risks or to provide structured financing across asset classes, according to the bank.

Global wealth manager

Barclays Wealth is the UK’s largest wealth manager, with total client assets at the end of June of £170bn, and offices in more than 20 countries.
