Bangkok-based MBMG co-founder Graham Macdonald to retire

By International Adviser, 1 Apr 16

MBMG Group co-founder and managing director, Graham Macdonald, has confirmed that he will retire from his post in Thailand at the end of May.

MBMG Group co-founder and managing director, Graham Macdonald, has confirmed that he will retire from his post in Thailand at the end of May.

On his departure, he will initially take up an advisory role with Macallan Insurance Brokers, while remaining “actively involved” in his charitable and chamber functions, according to a statement released earlier today by MBMG.

The professional services provider, who co-founded the Bangkok-headquartered MBMG in 1994, has been widely credited with driving the firm’s success in South East Asia.

Renowned for his charitable endeavours, he is currently the president of the Royal British Legion Thailand, working with organisations such as Care for Kids, the Lighthouse Club and BCTFN.

In addition to his role at MBMG, Macdonald has also worked with the British and South African Chambers of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand for the last two decades.

Accolades

In 2013, Macdonald received an MBE for services to British business interests in Thailand – an accolade his business partner MBMG co-founder Paul Gambles, described as a “fantastic honour and recognition for all the work he has done.” Gambles sits on International Adviser‘s intermediary panel.

He has also received acclaim as an expert contributor to various newspapers, magazines and journals and received a nomination for the prestigious Lorenzo Natali Prize for journalism – an EU award recognising excellence in the reporting of human rights and democracy in the developing world.
