AXA Global Healthcare has entered into a partnership with The National Health Insurance Company – Daman, the largest health insurer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to offer a new International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI).
Tailored for businesses with a global workforce, the premium healthcare plans help employees access the best care worldwide, wherever their assignment takes them,
Launching in March 2024, the new Global Healthcare Plan is a locally licensed and compliant product administered by Daman, and internationally supported by AXA – Global Healthcare. The partnership marks a significant step in the global growth agenda for AXA – Global Healthcare.
Daman is part of PureHealth, the UAE’s largest integrated healthcare platform, with an ecosystem that challenges lifespans and reimagines health spans. The award winning national health insurer provides comprehensive health insurance solutions to 2.8 million members in the UAE. Across its eighteen years of operation, the company has shaped the development of the UAE’s health insurance laws and continues to build on its domestic network of over 3,000 active healthcare providers.
The Global Healthcare Plan gives its members enhanced flexibility, offering upgrade options across maternity, dental, and optical health across all levels, and access to HRT, menopause, and infertility benefits. Cover is further expanded with higher overall limits and out-patient benefit limits, and members can also access dietician consultations. The experienced sales team will combine global and local knowledge on the ground to sell the plan to intermediaries and businesses in and out of the region.
Members will have access to a dedicated and experienced round-the-clock in-country claims team as well as to AXA’s Virtual Care services. They will also be able to use the Daman Mobile app to conveniently and securely access the wide range of benefits from their plan.
Members will also benefit from Daman’s domestic network, one of the biggest healthcare networks in the UAE, and from AXA’s Select network of 1.9 million healthcare providers worldwide.
The partnership is spearheaded by Karim Idilby, managing director – Middle East and Africa for AXA – Global Healthcare, whose role is to further the company’s ambitions in the Middle East and Africa.
Idilby took up the role a year ago following ten years’ experience at BUPA, where he set up Bupa Global’s Africa, India and Middle East region, and spent four years in Private Equity, investing in the healthcare sector across the GCC and India.
Idilby said: “At AXA – Global Healthcare we want to grow, and grow fast. As one of the world’s largest IPMI markets, establishing a leadership position in the UAE has been a priority. Daman, with its strong distribution reach, domestic network, and digital platform, is the perfect partner with whom we will achieve our shared vision for growth in IPMI in the UAE.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the integrated offering take shape throughout 2024, and developing a blueprint for success which we can expand to other key international markets.”
