As with markets, so with cricket. After the variable bounce infused contest that saw Australia comprehensively beaten in Cardiff, the second test had started much more poorly for England on a road of a pitch at Lords – an indication of just how quickly things can change.
1 – Alastair Cook
A quiet accumulator of runs, often overshadowed by flashier players Cook has, for many years, been the bedrock of the English top order. And, while England’s highest ever run scorer hasn’t been in the best of form in recent series, he did finally manage to get a hundred under his belt against New Zealand. And despite not making much of an impact with the bat in Cardiff, his captaincy has improved significantly and it would be foolish to write him off just yet.
Fund – Fidelity Moneybuilder Income Fund
Ian Spreadbury and his team have done very well over the years and have built up a formidable fixed income franchise that focuses on the quiet accumulation of income. Like Cook, Spreadbury is a team man and his results have been consistent.
