The former chairman of the Alternative Investment Management Association Todd Groome has joined Highwater Group, a Cayman Islands based provider of independent director services to hedge and private equity funds.

Groome was chairman of AIMA for four years between 2009 and 2012, where he represented the hedge fund industry globally. Prior to this he worked at the International Monetary Fund for over five years after working as an investment banker and practicing law in Washington D.C.

Most recently, Groome worked as a senior adviser to Albourne Partners – a hedge fund and private equity research company and helped advise a start-up hedge fund which successfully launched in 2011.

At Highwater, Groome will join the corporate governance team.

With its head office on Grand Cayman, Highwater provides its director and corporate governance services to hedge funds and global investment managers to clients based across the world, although with an emphasis on Cayman domiciled funds.
