The event, called “Can the EU single market in financial services ever become a reality?”, will take place on Thursday 10 April in Holborn Bars, a landmark Victorian gothic-styled building in London which was, until eight years ago, the head office of Prudential.
The one day programme, which includes morning and afternoon panel sessions where speakers will take questions from attendees, will cover such issues as:
• The development of a single market for insurance and pensions
• Intermediaries' views of the single market
• How international IFAs deal with expatriates and local nationals
• What the future holds for providers in the single market
The key speakers for the event are Gabriel Bernardino (chairman, EIOPA), Otto Thoresen (director general, ABI), Paul Carty (chairman, BIPAR), Mary Trussell (KPMG), Michael Lohdi (vice chairman, FEIFA), Philip Woolfson (Steptoe) and John Bruton (chairman, IFSC, Ireland).
AILO chief executive Alan Morgan-Moodie said: “AILO has a significant role to play in the debate and discussion of the key issues affecting the cross-border financial services industry. This Conference will be a lively programme covering the issues that are at the forefront of people's minds within the EU Financial Services industry.”
The association said delegates are invited from across the financial services industry but that the conference will be of particular interest to insurers, accountants, law firms, intermediary firms, reinsurers, networks and platforms.
