Ogier appoints tax partner for Luxembourg

By International Adviser, 16 Sep 14

Offshore law firm Ogier has appointed a tax partner for its Luxembourg office.

Offshore law firm Ogier has appointed a tax partner for its Luxembourg office.

Caroline Bormans, who joined the company on 15 September, specialises in corporate tax, international tax structuring, tax aspects of real estate investments, and all tax matters related to investment funds.

Bormans has previous experience working for global accountancy and professional services firms in Belgium and Luxembourg.

She has also run her own boutique legal practice, with a focus on tax and general business law.

On the appointment, global managing partner, Nick Kershaw, said: “Our first 18 months in Luxembourg have been tremendously successful, and Caroline’s appointment gives greater breadth and depth to our services for Luxembourg clients.”

Ogier provides advice on law in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey, and Luxembourg.

In September, the company launched a dispute resolution team in Hong Kong in order to serve Asian clients “in their own time zone”.

The new team is headed up by partner Ray Ng, who has experience working with financial institutions and high net worth individuals in the region.

Ng will relocate from the BVI to Hong Kong for the job, which Ogier called a “direct response” to increasing client demands for on-the-ground access to BVI-acquired litigation experience and Mandarin language skills in the region.
