Coutts Trustees have appointed William Waldegrave as chairman of its board and on-executive director adding to the string of senior hires announced recently across its flagship trust company in Jersey.

Coutts Trustees have appointed William Waldegrave as chairman of its board and on-executive director adding to the string of senior hires announced recently across its flagship trust company in Jersey.

Waldegrave, a Conservative Party peer who held the post of chief secretary to the UK Treasury in Prime Minister John Major’s government, has a wide ranging academic, political and business background and most recently served as a non-executive director at Fleming Family & Partners. He is also the chairman of Coutts & Co.

“This appointment is testament to the strength of the Coutts Trustee business, which continues to develop and grow,” Martin Hall, chief executive of Coutts Trustees said.

“Over the last year, we have refreshed our proposition, invested in a new technology platform and strengthened our senior team with a number of new hires,” he said.

Waldegrave’s appointment follows the recent appointments of Naomi Rive as chief trust officer, Fiona Whitehead as head of new business, Miles Le Cornu as head of private client services, David Thompson as head of fiduciary investments and Debbie Sebire as non-executive director to the Jersey Trust business.

“This appointment is testament to the strength of the Coutts Trustee business,"
