Formerly head of UK distribution at Carmignac Gestion, one of Europe’s largest asset managers, the appointment is part of NewSmith’s continued development following SuMi Trust’s investment in its parent company, NewSmith LLP, in 2012.
Paul Roy, executive chair of NewSmith Asset Management, said, “[Matthew’s] appointment marks a significant development for NewSmith, where we are planning to broaden the distribution of our investment strategies.
“Our existing stable of equity investment products will be an attractive addition to the UK and European wholesale market, together with other new managers and products across key IMA sectors, which we plan to launch.”
NewSmith AM currently offers six funds to corporate, institutional and high net worth clients, covering European, global, Japanese and UK equities. It launched its UK equity strategy, managed by Steve Thompson, in 2004. This was followed by its Global Equity Fund, managed by Simon Roberts, which was launched in 2010.
