Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers, a UK financial advice service, has struck a deal to acquire the financial planning firm DQS Financial Management.

Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers, a UK financial advice service, has struck a deal to acquire the financial planning firm DQS Financial Management.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and the financial terms have not been disclosed.

This part of the Old Mutual business is the appointed representative of Intrinsic and offers restricted financial planning services utilising Old Mutual Wealth’s investment capability across Quilter Cheviot and Old Mutual Global Investors.

The acquisitions will bring £200m ($283.6m, €252.5m) of new assets and 650 clients into the business.

DQS staff, including five advisers, will remain with the company under the Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers brand.

DQS was founded in 2001 by directors Chris Dyson, Rob Quaintance and Carrie Payne, all of whom will remain with the business.

The business provides financial planning to clients from its base in Devon and has grown successfully since 2001, including the acquisition of Castellan Financial Management in 2006.

“We’re delighted to announce the acquisition of DQS, adding an established and respected adviser firm to the Private Client Advisers business,” said Nigel Speirs, managing director of OMW Private Client Advisers.

Dyson added: “We are delighted to be joining Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers. Aligning with a business focused on delivering good customer outcomes through advice and ongoing service with an excellent pedigree in investment management has been very important to us and will enable us to continue to deliver a first-class proposition to our clients.”
