PEOPLE MOVES: Utmost, Morgan Stanley, Tilney Smith & Williamson

Insurer makes board changes, while US giant names head of global centres in India

Utmost Group

The insurance provider has made some changes to its board of directors.

James Fraser has taken on the role of independent non-executive chairman. He was previously a non-executive director at Hermes Fund Managers.

Gavin Palmer has become an independent non-executive director and will also serve as chairman of the newly formed group audit, risk and compliance committee. He was an actuarial partner at KPMG advising UK and European insurance companies.

Both appointments have been approved by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Morgan Stanley

The US financial services group has named Anahita Tiwari as head of global centres in India.

She will be based in Mumbai and be responsible for the implementation of the firm’s global growth and deployment strategy in the country.

Tiwari joins from JP Morgan Chase India, where she was head of global finance and business management.

Tilney Smith & Williamson

The wealth management group is building a US-UK transatlantic tax unit and recruited Adam Smith as a partner in its professional services arm to spearhead it.

Smith is a dual qualified US and UK tax adviser specialising in US-connected clients and businesses, as well as in US-UK cross-border tax issues.

He was previously at Blick Rothenberg, where he served as a partner for three years.

Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA)

The president of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued a federal decree to name Maryan Buti Al Suwaidi as the chief executive of the SCA.

She is the first woman to lead the UAE markets regulator, after serving as acting chief executive of the SCA.

Oak Group

The private client services provider has promoted Paul Schreibke to managing director of Oak Funds Services in Guernsey.

He joined the group in 2019 as managing director of Oak Trust.

Direct Life

The protection and technology provider has named Iain Clark as chief commercial officer.

He will head distribution across the company. Clark has held senior management positions at L&G, Vitality, LV= and British Friendly.

Sun Life

Donna Cotter has become chief executive of the Canadian insurer’s Bermuda business.

She recently worked as global head of strategic partnership at HSBC, based in Hong Kong.

Walker Crips

The UK financial advice firm has recruited Scott Heslin as an associate director within its financial planning division.

He was previously at Brewin Dolphin, where he served as assistant director for financial planning.

Causeway Securities

The structured investment broker has appointed Anna Wright as head of marketing.

She spent the last seven years at Idad where she was most recently marketing director.
