Progeny has appointed former HSBC group chief financial officer Ewen Stevenson as its inaugural chair for the next phase of the company’s “ambitious growth” in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
In a statement on 2 December, the Chartered financial planning, asset management, tax, HR and private and corporate legal services group said Stevenson’s previous career also included senior roles as CFO of Royal Bank of Scotland and holding a number of management roles in investment banking at Credit Suisse.
Alongside extensive international experience, Stevenson has extensive governance and regulatory experience and at both HSBC and Royal Bank of Scotland, he was one of two executive directors on each board. He also currently chairs the board of Serendipity Capital – a Singapore-based venture capital fund – and RNID – the UK’s leading charity for hearing loss.
Stevenson (pictured) said: “We have a fantastic opportunity to do things differently in the private client wealth sector right now. Clients are demanding higher standards and exceptional levels of service, which Progeny’s multidisciplinary services model is ideally designed to meet.”
The statement further highlighted that Progeny is the first and only firm in the UK to bring together Chartered financial planning, asset management, tax, HR and private and corporate legal services. Established in 2016, the business has grown rapidly, making a number of acquisitions and expanding from the UK into UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Belgium.
Neil Moles, CEO of Progeny, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Ewen immensely. Him joining Progeny is a huge vote of confidence in what we are all working so hard to achieve. His stellar professional pedigree and wealth of high level business experience will help to guide our continued growth and inform our ambitious plans for the future.”
In 2021, Progeny announced that Further Global Capital Management (FG) would become the controlling shareholder of the Group. FG has committed significant levels of equity support to drive Progeny’s ambitious growth agenda and bring its unique integrated professional services model to a global market.
Olivier Sarkozy, Further Global’s managing partner, said: “I have known Ewen since we were both junior bankers at Credit Suisse in the early nineties. Ewen’s enviable career speaks for itself. My first-hand knowledge of his integrity and intellect gives me great comfort that Ewen will add immeasurably to the workings of the Company in favour of all of its various constituents.”
