Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB),today (21 October) “proudly” announced the celebration of its 20th anniversary.
Since its inception in 2004, the organization has been dedicated to establishing, upholding and promoting worldwide professional standards in financial planning with CFP certification as the global symbol of excellence.
Over the past two decades, FPSB and its global network of organizations have made significant strides to propel the global financial planning profession forward, including:
• More than doubling the number of CFP professionals worldwide from 86,690 to 223,700 at a 158% increase
• Growing the number of territories offering CFP certification from 17 to 28 territories, most recently in Italy
• Keeping pace with the changing needs and expectations of consumers, as well as the evolution in the practice of financial planning by professionals by updating global financial planning standards and certification requirements, including the addition of psychology in the practice of financial planning, crypto finance and evolving investment strategies
• Amplifying the voice of the global financial planning community as an affiliate member of the International Organization for Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and submitting recommendations to regulatory and government bodies on behalf of the public and the global CFP professional community
• Raising awareness of the value of financial planning and of working with a CFP professional through global consumer initiatives such as World Financial Planning Day, hosted in conjunction with IOSCO’s World Investor Week, and OECD’s Global Money Week
• Informing and disseminating insights into the practice of financial planning and the value to consumers via global research

In honor of its 20-year anniversary, FPSB hosted a celebratory dinner on 18 October in Sᾶo Paulo, Brazil that featured keynote speaker former FPSB CEO Noel Maye and remarks by founding FPSB Board member Elaine Bedel, CFP, and FPSB CEO Dante De Gori, CFP. FPSB’s 20-year celebration coincided with its Global Meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil held 16-18 October that brought together leaders in its global network who represent more than 223,700 CFP professionals worldwide to exchange ideas and best practices to drive the global financial planning profession forward.
