Sandeep Das has been appointed MD and head of private banking in India for Standard Chartered.

Sandeep Das has been appointed MD and head of private banking in India for Standard Chartered.

Based in Mumbai, Das will report to both Stephen Richard Evans, head of private banking in Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and the Americas and Sanjeeb Chaudhuri, regional head of South Asia and group chief marketing officer for consumer banking at the group.

Das joined Standard Chartered in 1991 and has held several positions in the bank since then. These include being regional manager for the Middle East, NRI Services and general manager for wealth management in India. He was appointed to the position of general manager for premium banking and NRI business in March 2009. Most recently as general manager of premium banking, Das was responsible for launching the group’s Priority Banking and Preferred Banking propositions.

Chaudhuri said Das’ experience would support the group’s strategy of growing bsuiness in its key markets.

“Sandeep’s contribution to the consumer banking business over the last 20 years has been outstanding.  With his long experience in the high net worth space and strong relationships with Indian clients, Sandeep is very well suited to strengthen our position as a leading international private bank in India," he said.
