Withers has appointed a new partner and head of financial services and investment funds for its Milan office.

Withers has appointed a new partner and head of financial services and investment funds for its Milan office.

Andrea Luciano joins the globally-focused law firm from King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin, where he headed the Italian Financial markets Group.

Luciano has worked in capital markets, debt matters, securitisation transactions, private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund formation. He also has experience in financial market regulations, compliance and AML procedures.

His appointment follows a series of high profile hires at the company over the last few months, such as head of tax and trusts, Giulia Cipollini, in May.

On the appointment, Withers’ Italian practice managing partner, Roberta Crivellaro, said: “What’s interesting for us is [Luciano’s] experience in funds formation for high net worth individuals, which will be an important asset to our practice.”

Luciano added: “The firm is also marked for its full range of legal services, and this balance will allow me to keep growing my financial markets practice in Italy and on an international platform.”

Last March, the company launched a “non-legal” international consultancy to “help families and entrepreneurs decide what future success means for them, and how best to organise and run their affairs to achieve that success”.
