Wright, who will be based in Jersey, joined Kleinwort Benson in January from Deutsche Bank’s Jersey operation, where he was head and managing director of its private wealth management business in the Channel Islands, Turkey, Israel and Africa.
He came to Deutsche Bank in 2006, initially as head of private banking, having previously worked at the Royal Bank of Canada.
At Kleinwort Benson, Wright reports to Stephen Rothwell, who heads up the company’s private wealth management operation.
In his new role, Wright will be responsible for overseeing the growth of the company’s private wealth management business in offshore markets, as well as its offshore fund sales.
News of Wright’s appointment comes less than two weeks after Kleinwort announced the appointment of Valentina Tacchino to head up the company’s international private wealth management operations out of London, beginning in September, and within months of other appointments, including that of Rothwell himself – to whom Tacchino also reports – whose appointment was announced in November, and that of Andrew Wheeler, Kleinwort’s newly-named executive director of business development.
In a statement, Rothwell said the appointments of Wright, Tacchino and Wheeler showed Kleinwort’s “commitment” to wealthy individuals whose lives and finances span multiple jurisdictions, and said the company would continue to build on its “existing success and strong momentum” in that space.
