Bestwick will continue as technical director, “but will have additional responsibility for several operational functions, including human resources, finance and IT,” Jersey Finance said in a statement.
The added duties and title were described as being in response to the growing demands being placed on Jersey Finance and its CEO, Geoff Cook, as the organisation expands.
Her appointment, Cook said, “reflects the growing remit of Jersey Finance and in particular, our strategy to support the industry in expanding into high-growth emerging economies, such as China, India and the Gulf region, while maintaining our strong position and market share closer to home”.
An English solicitor and former managing partner of the Jersey office of international law firm Walkers, Ms Bestwick joined Jersey Finance in 2010, when she succeeded Robert Kirkby, who left to join KPMG as director of advisory services in its Jersey office.
She qualified as a solicitor with Norton Rose in London in 1993 and joined Walkers in the Cayman Islands in 1999, where she worked in its corporate and international finance department, eventually becoming a Cayman Islands attorney and Notary Public.
She moved to Jersey when Walkers opened an office in St. Helier in 2007.
